"Putball"

I told Jaelynne about a week ago (when she was saying that she didn't love me) that i wanted to take her to a Montague football game. She wanted to go saying, "i so love football games" even though she has never been.

I think Jaely was excited that we were leaving Camryn and papa behind. We went to a chinese restaruant for dinner. Jaely got ice cream there without finishing her dinner and she got chocolate milk. It was a special day where we eat special things. And then it was off to the game. Jaely was so excited that she matched me in her Montague Wildcats sweatshirts. We practiced yelling "go cats!" and clapping. We put Montague blue ribbons in her hair.

We parked the car and it was already getting dark outside. Jaely knew she was staying up past her bedtime and that added to the excietment. We walked hand in hand down the sidewalk that lead to the field and the bleachers. She first noticed the huge lights that lit up the sky. It was homecoming and the theme was super heroes. We walked past a green hulk who jaely refers to as "the geen guy" At first she was scared of him, but she talks all about him now. We walked past a boy with a blue mohawk and a girl in a homecoming dress. We passed by the popcorn and jaely said she wanted some of that later. We found some of my friends, and lucky for us they had seats saved that we could sit in. I was so thankful for that. Getting there 30 minutes early wasn't early enough. We climbed to the second to the last row of bleachers all the way up top. Jaely was thrilled. She was pointing and gasping and speaking a mile a minute as questions poured from her mouth and observations were made. She wondered about the announcer that came over the speaker and what the guy was doing way up high (filming). She observed the cheerleaders and the numbers on the field. She asked about the guys in stripes and the flag core. We sang the "Star Spangled Banner" as Jaely watched the band play. When the football game started, Jaely was amazed and pointed to the guys "tipping over." We talked about their hard helmets and pads. It was crazy to all of us how she actually watched the game and clapped when others clapped. She stood on the bleachers in front of where i was sitting and danced to the music, asked about the drums and the funny hats. When she got a little dizzy from her dancing she almost fell off the bleacher seat and got a little spooked. It required some cuddling and then she was good. When the "fancy dresses"came on the field, i told her she could stand on the seat and i would hold her from behind. She did for a second and then crawled into Peter's lap and watched the rest of the homecoming court from there. She pointed to the letter M and W on our sweatshirts. She ate skittles and drooled rainbows. She ate popcorn and shared with all of us. She waved at everyone on the way back from the concessions stand, but got so tired at the top of the bleachers that she crawled the rest of the way up. When asked if she "could taste the rainbow" by Zandra, Jaely gave her red skittle in her hand the strangest look. She counted the skittles in my hand and got some kindergarten teachers to turn their heads. It started to sprinkle rain, so Jaely put her fleece jacket and her hat on by herself. Again the kindergarten teachers marveled at that. Many times they just smiled and nodded because Jaely-speak gets some getting used to, but i was so glad that Jaely wasn't shy with them. she told them all about who knows what. Jaely zipped some skittles into her coat pocket and said "i share with papa when i get home" Without even throwing the least bit of a fit, we left at halftime. I warned her when we had 10 minutes left. And when we had 5 minutes left. She was tired, a little wet, a little chilled and ready to go i think. We walked down the sidewalk hand in mittened hand. Jaely asked if i could see the moon. I got us just a little lost on the way back to the car and when we got into the car, Jaely wanted to call papa. We did and one of the first things she said was "geen guy" and "mama got us lost on the way to car". Thanks a lot Jae! Papa may never be confident in our girls' night again! Jaely said to her papa on the phone "after Miss Amber's we go to putball game, okay? I show you geen guy and lights, okay? Youuuuuuu see drum and flags too and what they called? I I I Idon't remember. They do this (moving her arms all over to represent cheerleaders)" I was giggling and crying at how precious this little child of ours is. She was one tired, but happy girl. After she was in bed, she didn't even move. She just rolled over and went to sleep.
